Emily in Paris Star Lucas Bravo on Why Fans 'Don't Really Want' to See Him with New Long Hair (Exclusive)

Lucas Bravo enters his era of long hair.

At the premiere of the fourth season of the film Emily in ParisThe 36-year-old French actor, who recently debuted a shaggy new style, told PEOPLE that fans of the show don’t always like when he changes his look.

“I feel like every time I try to be myself and let things grow, people don’t really want me to look like anything other than Gabriel,” he said on the red carpet on Wednesday, August 14. “But I don’t. I don’t embrace the clean-shaven short-cut look, I prefer to let things grow out.”

Bravo also shared that his new look was for the role. “I’m shooting Dangerous connections for HBO and there’s going to be a lot of sword fighting and horse riding and nice mustaches and long hair,” he said.

In the hit Netflix series, Bravo portrays Gabriel and up-and-coming Parisian chef and lover Emily Cooper (Lily Collins). While prepping the press for the upcoming season, which hits the streaming platform on Thursday, August 15, the actor debuted his longer hairstyle.

While filming a video interview, an earthquake unexpectedly hit the Los Angeles set — but Bravo’s long locks remained perfectly in place.

“It was a shock,” Bravo said as his co-star, Ashley Park, answered the question. “I thought you were kicking me in the chair the whole time,” Park replied.
