Emma Roberts wants to solve the mystery of Nancy Drew’s life as an adult.
In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan focusing on her love of books, We are the Millers star, 33, considered playing the iconic literary character and teenage detective in the 2007 film. Nancy Drew.
Roberts admitted that she would love to return to the big screen as the character and see Nancy’s life as an adult.
“Where is she now?” she asked rhetorically. “Like maybe she’s gone a little off the rails and needs to be brought back.”

The founder of the literary club Belletrist told Cosmopolitan of which he is a big fan Nancy Drew coming-of-age book, so she went to great lengths to prove to the film’s directors and executives that she could play the teenage detective, even though they worried that at 14, then 15, she was too young for the part.
“When I auditioned for it, they told me, ‘Look, you’re probably not going to get the part, you’re a little too young,'” she recalled. “I remember going to the Gap and buying an argyle sweater and a headband — this whole outfit. I thought, ‘This is Nancy Drew — I know who she is.’ ”

Roberts’ determination won her the role. She said Cosmopolitan that the experience was “definitely something that triggered my literary sensibilities in the movies and TV shows I would later do.”

Responding to rumors that she was being considered to play the “Toxic” singer, Roberts said cosmopolitan: “I mean, my real dream is to play Britney Spears. It’s a rumor, but I hope it might come true.”
“I remember locking myself in my room and listening In the Zone and said, ‘I can’t leave this room until I remember every word,'” she added of Spears’ 2003 album.
