Emma Stone learned from her mistake. She will never make jokes about her friend Taylor Swift again.
In a new interview with Diversity by the side Poor people director Yorgos Lanthimos, Stone, 35, was asked about jokingly calling Swift, 34, an “hole” backstage at the 2024 Golden Globes in January. The backlash she faced from Swift’s fans taught her a valuable lesson.
“I’m definitely not going to joke like that again … because I’ve seen headlines that really took it out of context,” Stone said Diversity. She later pointed to herself and added, “What nonsense.”

When Stone won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical for Poor peopleSwift could be seen clapping and cheering enthusiastically.
“What an a-hole,” Stone joked to reporters backstage. “I have known her for almost 20 years. I was very happy that she was there, and she was also nominated tonight, which was wonderful. And yes, what a hole.”
Stone won an award for her role as Bella Baxter in the quirky comedy, while Swift was nominated for a Golden Globe. Her Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour the concert film was for cinematographic and cinema-box-office achievement, which eventually went away Barbie.

Swift and Stone have been friends since 2008, when they met at the Young Hollywood Awards. They’ve attended several events together over the years, with Swift supporting Stone at the film’s New York premiere in December 2023. Poor people.

The Oscar winner has rarely spoken about her relationship with Swift, but she did vanity fair in June 2023 that the “Anti-Hero” singer helped her secure tickets for the Eras Tour.
“I was lucky because we have been friends for a very long time. I’ve known her since we were 17 and 18, so she put me together, which was really nice because I know those tickets are impossible to get,” Stone told the magazine, adding that Swift is a “wonderful friend.”
