Elana James was born on Tuesday 16 February 1999 (21 years old in 2020) and is from Whangarei, New Zealand. At the age of ten, she moved to Wellington, New Zealand. She attended Wellington Girls’ College. At the age of fourteen, she enrolled in the Young Professional Acting Program at Rata Studios, the Wellington School of Performing Arts. Later, she studied for a Bachelor of Arts in Te Reo Māori (Polynesian language spoken by Maori) at Te Herenga Waka — Victoria University of Wellington.
