Eric Ripert is located in the kitchen in its three Michelin Star French Restaurant Le Bernardin Monday to Friday. On weekends you can often find it in a French but far less imaginative restaurant New York, Balthazar.
The famous chef and his wife of 26 years, Sandra Ripert, has lunch there “since Balthazar existed,” People told People while hosted by Kajman’s cooking at Ritz Carlton, Grand Cayman from January 15 to 20. “I order oysters, shells and shrimp, and then I have a tartar steak, ultra spicy and the order of fries.”

He does not start cooking on weekends. “My wife and I ensure that on weekends, one night at home and cook, and then one night we go out,” he says.
Sandra, a real estate agent, is not picky. “Whatever I give her, she’s pleased because she doesn’t have to cook,” Eric says. “My cooking is inspired by the seasons, what we find on the market or trade.”

If Eric brings peace and order at home, Sandra brings fun. “We are so different. We are opposite. She is like José Andrés as a woman,” Eric laughed at her tumultuous friend, who also runs Kajman’s chef. “Sandra is a Puerto Rikanka, Latina, proud of it. She is, in fact, the new Yor-Ican. High energy, always moving, something is doing something.”

A compromise is one of the secrets of their long marriage. The rest is simple: “You can’t be selfish,” Eric says. “You have to be generous in the relationship. And you have to be patient. You have to love yourself.” They are not standing for French foods don’t even hurt.
