Erykah Badu arrived at the CFDA Fashion Awards (and her entrance was nothing short of stunning).
On Oct. 28, the 53-year-old singer-songwriter became the latest recipient of the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Fashion Icon Award and hit the carpet in a look befitting an icon.
The Grammy winner wore an hourglass all-in-one chesterfield, sport coat, embroidered cardigan, pleated skirt and pants in black cashmere, triple mohair, wool flannel and silk faille with an oversized jumpsuit in black triple mohair with black grosgrain pointed toe shoes black patent leather wings — all Thom Browne. She completed her look with a beaded headdress and signature face jewelry.

Badu joined Zendaya, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna and Lady Gaga among the stars to receive the prestigious award, which has honored fashion influencers since 2010.
The honor celebrates Badu’s “distinctive, fearless” sense of style, including her signature love of daring headwear.

“This honor is incredible and I don’t take it for granted. I’ve always loved taking parts of things that attract me and creating something far greater than the sum of those parts. From the music I make, to the look I put on, to the technology I develop, I’m always looking for innovative , exciting ways to be more expressive and connect with people, to be closer to nature,” Badu shared in a statement.

The CFDA will also celebrate her bold tailoring resume, which includes looks for designer houses such as Rick Owens, Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty and Thom Browne.
