Here are the Escape From Tarkov 0.13.1.0 patch notes, which contain various bug fixes, balance changes and additional improvements to the shooter video game ‘Escape From Tarkov’.
Escape from Tarkov
Escape from Tarkov is an immersive and dynamic multiplayer FPS currently being developed by Battlestate Games exclusively for Windows. Its narrative takes place in the fictional region of Norvinsk, which serves as the backdrop for an intense conflict between two powerful private military entities:
United Security (“USEC”) and Battle Encounter Assault Regiment (“BEAR”). In this game, players are thrust into adrenaline-pumping matches known as “raids”, where they engage in fierce battles against human opponents and AI-controlled robots in a desperate struggle to secure valuable resources and, ultimately, to survive in a dangerous environment and find way to escape.

Escape From Tarkov Gameplay
Escape from Tarkov, an immersive and challenging FPS survival game, is often described by its developers as a realistic and hardcore experience that combines elements of MMO games. The game offers three different modes in which players can get involved: online PMC raids, Scav raids (where players take on the role of a scavenger), and a temporary offline mode.
During raids, players can choose to go it alone or team up with others, creating a diverse selection of cards on the one hand. Their goal is to reach the extraction point located on the opposite side of the map, while fighting against human players and AI-controlled characters. In addition to the standard draws, players have the option of using additional draw points, but specific requirements must be met, such as paying in-game currency, not carrying a backpack, or equipping certain items.
In their quest for survival, players can discover a variety of loot such as firearms, gear, and armor within the maps. Once drawn, these items can be stored in a personal inventory for future raids or sold at a virtual flea market to other players, provided they possess the “found in raid” status.
Escape from Tarkov uses a minimalistic HUD, providing limited on-screen information to enhance immersion. When players are killed in an attack, they lose all their acquired loot and equipment. However, players have the option to secure their items, which can be returned if not looted by other players. Scav raids differ from PMC raids in that players receive random gear and join ongoing raids in random locations. After completing a scav run, there is a cooldown period before the mode becomes available again.
Outside of raids, players can sell unwanted loot to merchants or other players through flea markets and use the earnings to buy new gear. Merchants also offer missions that, when completed, increase their loyalty level, giving access to additional items and missions. Players can also upgrade their “Shelter”, an underground shelter, using collected or purchased materials. Hideout upgrades grant in-game bonuses such as reduced Scava cooldowns, increased experience, and item crafting.
Escape from Tarkov’s intense attacks usually lasts between 15 and 45 minutes, depending on the map selected, and can accommodate up to 14 players. The game offers a challenging and immersive gaming experience where resource management, tactical decision-making and skillful combat are key to survival.
Escape From Tarkov Development
Escape from Tarkov entered development in 2012, and the Battlestate Games team drew on the experience of working on Contract Wars at Absolutsoft. Both games are part of the impressive Russia-2028 universe created by the developers. In fact, some members of the development staff have actual military experience, including a former Spetsnaz operator, which lends authenticity to the game’s tactical elements.
To capture realistic gun sounds, the developers went to abandoned warehouses, recording real firearms in action. This attention to detail enhances the game’s immersive audio experience.
During the beta phase of the game, the developers constantly released updates, introducing new features, maps, characters and equipment to enrich the gameplay. However, these updates occasionally require a player’s game progress to be reset, known as a “wipe”, to maintain balance and fairness.
One challenge the game has faced is dealing with cheaters and trading with real money. The latter involves players violating the game’s license agreement by selling in-game currency for real-world money. In response, the developers took action in 2020, cracking down on the practice of buying currency by trading expensive items with other players. This led to some confusion among players as questions arose about the limits of legitimate in-game item trading.
Despite these challenges, Escape from Tarkov continues to evolve and improve through regular updates, demonstrating the developer’s commitment to providing an authentic and immersive gaming experience in the Russia-2028 universe.
