Hunter Schafer was reportedly arrested Monday at a demonstration calling for a cease-fire in Gaza.
The Euphoria star, 25, was one of the protesters who showed up at 30 Rockefeller Plaza ahead of President Joe Biden’s appearance at Late Night with Seth MeyersJewish Voice for Peace (JVP), which held the protests, confirmed to PEOPLE.
“Hunter was arrested at the protest, along with 50 other people,” a JVP spokesperson told PEOPLE. “We commend her commitment to Palestinian freedom and a future of justice for all.”
Schafer could be seen in photos posted by the organization on Instagram. In one photo, the actress could be seen wearing a black shirt with the words “Ceasefire NOW” while holding a banner that read “The whole world is watching.” She could also be seen sitting with a mask in front of another banner that read: “Jews to Biden: Stop the Arming of Genocide.”

Schafer, along with several protesters, could also be seen chanting things like “no more genocide,” “ceasefire” and “no more guns, no more war” in social media posts.
The New York Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE that officers detained 30 people at 30 Rockefeller Center on Monday during the protest and were issued trespass summonses. The NYPD has not confirmed whether Schafer was among those taken into custody.

However, it appears that Schafer was one of those arrested as she was photographed being escorted out of NBC headquarters by police with her hands behind her back in a photo he obtained New York Post.
This comes after Israel launched an attack on Gaza in response to a Hamas attack in Israel in October, which killed hundreds of civilians. More than 29,000 people have died so far as a result of the war between Israel and Hamas, and more than 70,000 have been injured, the Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed to NBC News.

Asked about a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas, Biden, 81, told reporters in New York that he hoped it would happen next week, according to NBC News.
“I hope we have a ceasefire by next Monday,” Biden said. “My national security adviser tells me we’re close, close, but we’re not done yet.”
