Mendes took to Instagram to reflect on how her family made childhood Christmases special
Eva Mendes shares a memory of Christmas!
On Tuesday, the actress, 49, shared a photo of her younger self standing in front of an ’80s Christmas tree and dollhouse.
“Little me in the 80s at Christmas. We were paycheck to paycheck – at best – but my mom always did her best on Christmas morning,” Mendes wrote in her caption. “My older siblings were part of the magic too. Since they were far away at the time beyond their Santa years, when I look back now, I realize how much they all contributed to make it magical for me. I’m so grateful.”
In the photo, little Mendes flashed a bright smile as she held a plastic doll while wearing a red jumpsuit over a white blouse.
The star’s title also mentions her late older brother Carlos Mendez who died of cancer in April 2016 at the age of 53.

“I miss my brother,” Mendes wrote. “The last Christmas I had with him was a few years ago when he did something only a big brother can do. I’ll leave that sweet story for another post. Anyway, I saw this picture this morning and wanted to share it.”
Mendes’ sweet comeback post comes just a month after she celebrated her mother Eva Pera Suarez’s 82nd birthday in November.

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes’ Kids: Everything They Said About Parenthood
“Mom is 82 years old!” read the star’s Instagram caption. In the first photo, Mendes posed with her mother while wearing a black T-shirt with a cat’s nose and mustache drawn on her face. Her mother was also dressed in a striped blazer and wearing black sunglasses in another snap.
“Mami the lioness and her cub,” Mendes added in her caption, “Te amo Mami. Eres mi Reina”, which in Spanish means “I love you mom, you are my queen”.
Mendes is the mother of daughters Esmeralda Amada (9) and Amada Lee (7), whom she shares with her husband Ryan Gosling (43).
