On Sunday, TMZ reported that his body was found in his bedroom, according to the coroner’s office.

The exact circumstances of his death are unclear at this time.

Officials said it does not appear to be foul play.

Evan’s father, Michael Ellingson, shared with the outlet that his son has struggled with drugs in the past.

The actor seemed to be “recently better”, but his sudden death is a complete shock to the grieving family.

Evan’s brother, Austin Ellingson, also died of a drug overdose in 2008, according to IMDB.

In the same year, Evan had his daughter Brooklynn Ellingson.

HIS ACTING LEGACY

In 2007, Ellingson became a breakout star when he was cast as Josh Bauer, the nephew of Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer, in the sixth season of 24.

That same year, he appeared in the sixth season of CSI: Miami as Kyle Harmon, the estranged son of David Caruso’s Horatio Cane.

Two years later, the actor spoke to The Star about working with Caruso.

He described his colleague as a “really down-to-earth guy”.

“Without him, there’s really nothing. He understands that everyone thinks his character is a little too cool, but that’s the whole intriguing part about a show where things fly over everyone’s heads. He just got into his role.”

In 2009, Evan jumped into film and starred in Cameron Diaz’s family drama My Sister’s Keeper.

Based on the tear-jerking novel by Jodi Picoult, Evan played Jesse Fitzgerald in director Nick Cassavetes’ film, which co-starred Little Miss Sunshine star Abigail Breslin and Alec Baldwin.

‘MY CHILDHOOD’

In July 2009, the General Hospital student spoke to Philstar Global about entering show business at the age of 10.

He said: “I never had the same childhood experience with my friends.

“I never had more time with them. However, my childhood was cool. I’ve been busy doing the things I love.

Evan ended by saying, “I have no regrets because I discovered my passion for acting early.”

He wanted to branch out his acting career into “all serious drama. I’d love to do comedy as well,”

His film and TV work has included: Letters from Iwo Jima, Titus, Mad TV, Bones, 24, The Bondage and Walk the Talk.
