Rumors go viral on social media and usually most of them are considered to be false but still it is important to pay attention to every single rumor because who knows if some of them are true. The alleged rumors are related to Ray Epps and people want to know what he was doing on January 6th and if he was really arrested. Was Army Veteran Ray Epps Arrested?
After the attack on the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, conspiracy theories about Epps’ alleged role as agent provocateur and his wife’s connection to Dominion Voting Systems spread on Twitter and Fox News personality Tucker Carlson. He started legal action against Fox News for defamation for its coverage of his role in the Capitol riots. According to some people, Epps played the role of a federal agent who started the violence, however, he denied any involvement or connection to the government. Also, there are many people who want to know about his arrest.
Some even claim that it is on the most wanted list. Well, after checking the details, we found out that all the rumors that he was arrested have been declared false. After the attack on the capital on January 6, 2021, he was on the FBI’s most wanted list for about 6 months. Although the photo of him was removed from the list without explanation. So Ray Epps was never arrested. Additionally, a military veteran recently sued Fox News for defamation.
As noted in the lawsuit, Fox avoided the “fantasy story” that the former US Marine was a federal agent to be a “scapegoat” for an attack on Congress, the outlet shared. In the month of January 2021, Mr. Epps was caught on camera asking others to enter the Capitol complex. Although he was questioned by FBI agents, he was not arrested. The damages are not specific in the lawsuit, which was filed on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, in a Delaware court. Tucker Carlson is also mentioned. In addition, Mr. Epps’s attorney alleges that he and his wife had to close the wedding venue they had established in Arizona and move to a small trailer home in Utah due to harassment and intimidation they faced due to conspiracy theories.
