Faux Fur, an Asian drag queen, will compete in Season 2 of Drag Race Down Under with nine other queens of various origins. The program will premiere on WOW on July 30, with RuPaul as host and judge, along with fellow judges comedian Rhys Nicholson and longtime Drag Race star Michelle Visage.
In the first episode, viewers will meet and learn more about all the queens. The first episode is described as follows:
“Mama Ru returns for more antics as 10 new queens from across Australia and New Zealand battle it out to be Down Under’s Next Drag Superstar, with $50,000 in prize money this time around.”
All About Drag Race Down Under Season 2 Faux Fur
According to her Twitter bio, the faux fur is “SYDNEY’S LOUDEST BUT NOT THE BADEST QUEEN.” The 27-year-old queen is ready to fight and send the other queens packing. In the intro video for Drag Race Down Under, she says about herself:
“Faux fur, it’s classy, it’s modern, but you can hear it from anywhere in the world because it’s just loud.”
The faux fur is of Vietnamese origin and has been performing drag for seven years, although she “only recently got back on her feet.” Despite her long time on the drag scene, Faux Fur “only recently started to take her own chances two years ago.” Since then, things have changed for the better. Few queens in Sydney can compete with her high energy theatrical performances. Her Instagram, @fauxfur official, has photos of her performances as well as a few other pictures for her more than 5k followers.
When the “fierce, vivacious, fabulous” faux fur first hit the drag scene in Sydney, she saw a small number of Asian queens on stage and was eager to build her own place. During the epidemic of 2020, she discovered a way to communicate with her fans from home. She started using social media to establish her popular weekly Faux Mondays, an Instagram IGTV live show. The forum allowed not only other queens, but also members of the gay and POC queer communities to express their experiences in hopes of encouraging others. According to cityhubsydney.com.au, she noted her venture:
“[We] immediately find methods to help and develop each other so that we come out of the epidemic in a better position.”
Faux Fur has done everything from presenting the awards night as a host to simply dazzling everyone in the club with her performances. Despite this, some people believe that faux fur is “typically Asian”, “reserved” and “calm”, even though it is “the complete opposite of quiet and submissive”. In response to the misperception, she stated:
“And I’m telling you, I broke all the rules and got away with it. It’s just my adorable face. I am the queen of all trades.”

She’s unpredictable, so fans and judges on Drag Race Down Under can “expect the unexpected” from her. She would do whatever the program dictated to send the other queens home, including “doing spins, cartwheels and shootouts.” Watch Faux Fur perform on Drag Race Down Under on WOW on July 30th.
