The FBI arrested Tyler Anderson
Dover resident Tyler Anderson, 30, was arrested Saturday and charged with using interstate commerce to send threats. Federal authorities say a New Hampshire man is accused of sending threatening text messages to kill a presidential candidate ahead of a scheduled campaign event on Monday. The US Attorney’s Office declined to reveal the candidate’s identity, as previously reported. However, a spokesman for Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy confirmed on Monday that the threatening texts were directed at his campaign. The man was notified of Monday’s breakfast gathering in Portsmouth via a text message from the candidate’s campaign on Friday, according to court filings.
According to an FBI agent’s statement, campaign staff received two threatening messages in response. In one letter, the candidate is threatened with being shot in the head, and in the other, he threatens to kill all those present and desecrate their bodies. The FBI stated, “The man was identified using a cell phone number.” “On Saturday, the agents searched the man’s house. The texts were discovered in a deleted folder, the statement said.
