In MMORPGs, Legendary Mounts are the epitome of player achievement, and in Final Fantasy XIV, the Kamuy of the Nine Tails Mount is the pinnacle of a Warrior of Light’s accomplishments in the Stormblood expansion. Much like the Kirin of A Realm Reborn or the Firebird of Heavensward, the Kamuy of the Nine Tails is the symbolic embodiment of a player’s arduous effort in overcoming the Extreme Trials of FFXIV: Stormblood.
Unlocking the Kamuy of the Nine Tails Mount in Final Fantasy XIV is no small task and requires a hefty investment of time through boss farming. However, those blessed with Hydaelyn’s luck in their loot rolls can acquire the Mount more quickly than expected. On the other hand, thanks to the release of Endwalker, the level cap has been raised to 90, meaning those who’ve attained end-game status will have a much easier time farming for Fabled Kamuy compared to those at Level 80 or less.
To get FFXIV‘s legendary Kamuy Mount, Warriors of Light must repeatedly fight the seven primary bosses of the Stormblood Trials until every one of their Mount drops has been obtained. However, players will not be able to embark on this endeavor until they’ve completed the entire Stormblood questline of Patch 4.0. Afterward, Hydaelyn’s Chosen must finish the Level 70 prerequisite quest, “Songs in the Key of Kugane,” given by the Wandering Minstrel in Kugane at X:11.6, Y:12.6.
Kamuy of the Nine Tails Mount Guide in FFXIV
Below are the Extreme Trials and their corresponding Mounts that players must farm to unlock the Kamuy of the Nine Tails.
- Emanation: Lakshmi – unlocks Blissful Kamuy
- The Pool of Tribute: Susano – unlocks Reveling Kamuy
- The Minstrel’s Ballad: Shinryu’s Domain: Shinryu – unlocks Legendary Kamuy
- The Jade Stoa: Byakko – unlocks Auspicious Kamuy
- The Minstrel’s Ballad: Tsukuyomi’s Pain: Tsukuyomi – unlocks Lunar Kamuy
- Hell’s Kier: Suzaku – unlocks Euphonious Kamuy
- The Wreath of Snakes: Seiryu – unlocks Hallowed Kamuy
Each Trial has a slight chance to drop its Mount after the fight. If players are playing with randoms, they will need to roll against them for the Mount. Therefore, it’s recommended to create an organized Duty party in FFXIV aimed at farming a specific Trial. Even if the Mount doesn’t drop, players will always receive a unique boss Totem at the end of the fight. Once 99x of these Totems have been obtained, they can receive the Mount directly at Eschina’s exchange in Rhalgar’s Reach at X:13.8, y:11.7.
Additionally, those who aren’t in a rush to obtain the prestigious the Kamuy of the Nine Tails can wait until FFXIV holds a seasonal Moogle Treasure Trove, an event where one of the Kamuy Mounts might be available for sale at the Itinerant Moogles. With this method, players will need to farm Irregular Tomestone currency to buy the Mount.
Once players collect all the Mounts, they can speak to the News Hawker in Kugane at X:11.6, Y:10 to receive “A Lone Wolf No More,” the concluding quest that rewards the Kamuy of the Nine Tails Mount.
