But sources revealed the Kurd avoided an attempt by the Home Office to deport him after he appealed to a secret immigration court.
Then in February he was free to push a passenger onto the tracks at Oxford Circus London Underground station because he thought he had given him a “dirty look”.
Terrified postman Tadeusz Potoczek, 61, narrowly escaped death on the live track and was four seconds away from being hit by a train.
Shorsh denied attempted murder but was convicted by a jury after just 32 minutes at Inner London Crown Court two weeks ago.
A previous hearing was told he had shown a “pattern of regular serious offending”.
He had 12 convictions for 21 offences, including assault, anti-social behavior and outraging public decency.
A source said: “His appeal was still ongoing when he pushed the victim off the platform onto the footpath at Oxford Circus.
“This makes you wonder what exactly you have to do to be deported from the UK?”
Shorsh was remanded in custody pending sentencing on September 26, when he could face life in prison and a deportation order.
The Interior Ministry declined to comment.
