Finneas and Billie Eilish Unpack Their Sibling Dynamic as He Goes Solo (Again!): 'Want You to Have the Best Time'

Finneas and Billie Eilish are an inseparable duo, both as siblings and as collaborators. Being the sole producer of all her music, Finneas still found time to record his second solo album, For Cryin’ Out Loud!

In a new episode of Spotify’s vodcast Countdown toEilish takes on the role of interrogator to discuss Finneas’ feelings ahead of the album’s release on October 4.

“I think it’s important to separate your taste from what you have to express,” Finneas, 27, says at the start of the episode. “It’s really not about you.”

Finneas says he has ‘no desire’ to be more famous than he already is: ‘It seems like a big problem’

Eilish, 22, takes the stage and begins by asking what Finneas wants people to take away from the album. “I’m kind of convinced I don’t have fans,” Finneas replies, jokingly adding. “I feel like some of your superfans are such superfans that I’m an expansion pack.”

However, the singer and producer was shocked to discover that all three of his shows in support of the album were sold out. Finneas is set to hit Los Angeles, New York and Kingston upon Thames, England for a series of intimate shows to play the album after it’s released later this week.

Finneas also talks about what his favorite songwriting process is in his career, both songs being Eilish. “I would say my favorite process ever is… ‘What am I made for?’ It’s hard to beat the inspiration and all this like…it was a basket full of material.”

He also loved working on Charli xcx’s “Guess” remix featuring Eilish. “We wrote it and we recorded it when we wrote it,” he explained.

As for what it’s been like for Finneas to take a step back from rehearsing and writing songs to work on his own music, Eilish admits it’s “sad and hard” but also a relief. “I feel like I spend all my time on tour and in rehearsals like, ‘Oh my God, Finneas wants to leave’ or ‘Finneas is unhappy.’ I just look up to you so much and want you to have the best time.”

Finneas recently gave an interview to Guitar.com and revealed that Eilish is learning how to produce her own music without his help.

“I’ve been editing Billie’s recording studio for her so she can do home production without me because she’s so good at it!” he told the publication. “And it’s funny, I was giving her, like, the bare minimum of things, just so she could learn everything.”
