Shane, who is known as The Codfather, said: “As soon as you’re old enough, you’re in the chippy.”

He started in one aged 14 and in 1988 opened J-Henry’s Fish & Chips, in Hedge End, Hants.

He named it after his son John-Henry, now 41, who will take over with his brother Sonny, 29.

Daughters Ellie, 38, and Charlotte, 25, are also involved, as are his grandchildren, who start earning pocket money at the age of 11.

Two more granddaughters, aged six and two, received their own mini uniform.

Shane said the business is “real family orientated” and everyone “gets along really well”.

“We do have an argument from time to time, but it’s usually in jest and for the most part it’s fine,” he said.

“We all have a good working relationship.

“Some families can’t work together – but it seems to work for us.”
