Florence Pugh gives a nod to one of her most memorable film roles.
While appearing at England’s Glastonbury Q&A festival, the 28-year-old actress wore a floral headpiece that bears an undeniable resemblance to her role in the infamous A24 horror film Midsommar.
At the show on Friday, June 28, Pugh took the stage in a black halter dress with sheer edges and high side slits. She accessorized with a pair of gray work boots and chunky jewelry, and her most eye-catching accessory was a floral crown of large blue, purple, pink, and white flowers.
The headpiece held back the front sections of the Oscar nominee’s short blonde hair. Pugh also sported a fun makeup look with graphic winged eyeliner and colorful jewels on the inner and outer corners of her eyes.

The addition is reminiscent of Pugh’s performance in the 2019 film Midsummer, in which she plays a young woman who travels to a summer festival in Sweden with her boyfriend after the tragic death of her family.

Pugh’s character, Dani, is given a flower crown to wear while participating in the commune’s nine-day festival. The film culminates when Dani is crowned “Queen of May” and dons a massive dress and headdress made entirely of brightly colored flowers.

Written and directed by Ari Aster, Midsummer shocked the audience with its disturbing and gruesome content. Pugh later said she suffered mentally to achieve her performance, which was met with critical acclaim.
“I’ve never played someone in so much pain before, and I put myself in really s— situations that maybe other actors don’t get to do,” Pugh said during a March 2023 podcast appearance. Off the Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster. “Every day, the content would get weirder and harder to do, I’d put things in my head that got worse and worse.”

“I think I ended up probably, definitely abusing myself to get that performance,” she continued, noting that she’s “never had this before with any” other character she plays.

The actress also said that it was difficult for her to start the next project, Greta Gerwig Little womandays after wrapping Midsommar.
“I remember looking down and feeling a huge amount of guilt, like I felt so guilty, because I felt like I left her in that field, in that state, and it was so weird, I’d never had that before,” Pugh said.
“It’s funny, obviously I created such a sad person and then I felt guilty for creating that person and then leaving her,” she added.
