A Florida couple has been charged with child neglect after the 14-month-old overdosed on cocaine, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.
On Sunday, police responded to a medical call for an unresponsive toddler in Bonita Springs, Florida. Diego Tzoy Pu, 33, and Santa Lux Pu De Tzoy, 30, were charged with child neglect and drug possession after police said the baby had taken “several pills described as oxycodone.”
It is not clear if they have hired lawyers to speak on their behalf.
The sheriff’s office said the pills were tested and found to contain cocaine.

The pills were in Tzoy Pu’s wallet, which was placed on a table that the child had access to, police said. The child was “seen screaming and crying with a blue pill in her teeth,” according to the sheriff’s office.
The child was transported to the hospital and is in a stable condition.
“We must protect those who cannot protect themselves,” Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in a statement. “Thank God, the child will be fine. We will continue to work with DCF to ensure that this child is in a safe environment, free of drugs and neglect.”
