Fouaad Mirza is an Indian equestrian. He is the first Indian since 1982 to win two silver medals in individual events at the 2018 Asian Games. In 2021, Fouad also became the first Indian equestrian since 2000 to finish third behind Indrajit Lamba (Atlanta 1996) and Imtiaz Anees (Atlanta 1996). Sydney 2000) and qualified for the Olympics.

Fouaad Mirza was born into an equestrian family. While growing up with many horses, Fouad developed an affection for them. Riding a horse after school is nothing less than a ritual for Fouad. As he grew older, his interest in equestrian became increasingly strong, and he began practicing this sport professionally at the age of 5. Fouad competed in several equestrian competitions during his school days, including the National Equestrian Championships and the National Youth Equestrian Championships.

Fouaad Mirza made his international debut at the 2014 Asian Games in Jakarta, competing in individual and team eventing. Fouad worked hard but failed to win any medals in the competition. Fouaad Mirza first came into the limelight after winning two silver medals at the 2018 Asian Games. Fouad won his first medal in the individual event and his second medal in the team event along with Rakesh Kumar, Ashish Malik and Jitender Singh. Fouad Mirza defeated his favorite Seigneur Medicott to win two silver medals at the 2018 Asian Games and became the first Indian since 1982 to win two silver medals in an individual event at the 2018 Asian Games people.
Fouaad Mirza won his first international gold medal at the CIC2 2018 Championships in the Netherlands. In the same year, he also won a silver medal at the CCI1 competition in Germany. Fouaad Mirza achieved minimum qualifying requirements (MER) with both of his horses Seigneur Medicott and Dajara during the January 2020 eventing event in Baborowko, Poland , qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, after which he became the first Indian equestrian since 2000. The third person to qualify for the Olympics after Indrajit Lamba (Atlanta 1996) and Imtiaz Anees (Sydney 2000). Fouaad Mirza competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and finished 22nd in the final.

Arjuna Award
In 2019, Fouaad Mirza received the prestigious Arjuna Award from the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind. The Arjuna Awards are given in recognition of outstanding achievements in Indian sports. The winners will receive a bronze statue of Arjuna, a certificate, a gown and a cash prize of Rs. 1.5 million.

- Fouaad Mirza loves spending quality time with his horses. He spends nearly 12 hours a day with them. Fouaad owns a 1.5-acre farm in Bangalore with 12 horses. Fouad feeds the horses, trains them, and takes them for walks to develop a deeper connection with them. He said in an interview,
We train every day and I take care of them myself, I’m in the stable for almost 12 hours. We feed them, train them, take them for walks, eat grass, and ice their legs. Just like you would with any professional athlete…physiotherapy, recovery, massage. “
