Foxy Brown was born in 1978 and is of mixed Afro-Trinidadian, Indo-Trinidadian and Chinese Trinidadian descent. Her upbringing ended in Brooklyn, New York. Winston Marchand is her father’s name, and he left the family when Brown was a child.
The rapper won a talent contest when she was still a teenager in New York. It is known that friends of the Trackmasters production group who worked on Mr. Smith’s album were also present that evening. They were impressed enough for Brown to perform on “I Shot Ya”.

Foxy Brown began her career in 1996 when she released her debut album, Ill Na Na, which received mixed reviews but sold well. The album has now sold over 109,000 copies in its first week and debuted at number 7 on the famous Billboard 200 album chart.
After the release of Ill Na Na, the rapper formed The Firm with New York hip-hop artists such as AZ, Nas and Nature. During 1997, the rapper collaborated with MTV’s Spring Break-style celebrations in Panama City, Florida. This was in addition to a rapper named Snoop Dogg, a pop group named The Spice Girls, and a rock band named Stone Temple Pilots.
Brown later joined the Smokin’ Grooves tour, which was organized by House of Blues and featured the rap group Cypress Hill, as well as Erykah Badu, The Roots, OutKast and The Pharcyde. Broken Silence was released by the rapper in 2001.
