John Stamos and the Olsen twins have finally reconnected.
Bob Saget’s death in early January 2022 left a deep impression on “Full House” fans around the world. For twins Stamos and Olsen, who joined actor Danny Tanner on the sitcom, it was a moment of reconnection. Fans of the hit ABC sitcom will know that Stamos has frequently had a strained relationship with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, the twins who play Michelle. Stamos has repeatedly mentioned that he initially fired the twins in the early days of “Full House” because they wouldn’t stop crying. Mary-Kate and Ashley, less than a year old, were replaced by another set of twins. Things didn’t go well with the surrogate twins and the Olsen duo were brought back to their best Stamos. The series turned the Olsen and Stamos twins into national icons. While their on-screen characters have been immortalized by their shared familial love, the twins’ real-life relationship with Stamos hasn’t always been perfect.
During an appearance on the podcast “And That’s What You REALLY Missed,” Stamos revealed that he and the Olsen twins are currently on good terms, in part due to Bob Saget’s funeral. The twins took the opportunity to let the actor know that they wanted to move on, bringing Stamos a peace offering in the form of a piece of pork and sage. “I don’t know why, but thank you?” actor Uncle Jesse said. “It was a frozen pork cutlet, so it was really tasty. So we were very close.”
While speaking on the podcast “And That’s What You REALLY Missed,” John Stamos revealed his feud with the Olsen twins stemmed from comments he made about the duo’s interest in the series. Netflix’s revival of “Full House,” which came out in 2015. “I was doing Fuller House, and they didn’t want to go back, and I went crazy for a minute, and it came out,” Stamos said.
The actor was disappointed that the Olsen twins did not return with him and most of the original cast. When speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in 2015, the actor expressed that the twins were disappointed that Stamos had not contacted them directly, but sent the offer through their representatives. “Looking back, I should have called them and talked to them, I guess…” Stamos said at the time. “We love each other, but we don’t contact – I mean, I don’t have their phone numbers.”
Fuller House is finally coming to an end in 2020 without Mary-Kate or Ashley Olsen showing up. Although the two have since left the series, it is clear that they want to maintain a relationship with their former co-stars.
