CORONATION Street star Sally Ann Matthews has been dragged into a meeting following her online argument about money.

Her comments have not gone down well with bosses, who are reportedly worried about the footage.

A TV insider said: “It’s not the first time Sally has raised eyebrows with her comments.

“It’s no secret that the budget isn’t what it used to be, but it’s not something actors are encouraged to talk about publicly.

“He should go and meet with the bosses and talk about how he feels on the soap opera in the general room. She’s clearly not happy, and neither are they.”

In the disturbing video, Sally is seen responding to a fan who asked where she would like to shoot on location.

She quipped: “We don’t work on location … right … okay, so the whole ‘Corrie doesn’t work on location anymore’ thing.”

“Luckily, because I fucking hate being on location – location sucks – I hate it.

“So I’m glad ITV is out of money – can I say that?

“So I said.”

She then said, “I always hate…” before trailing off.

Care about work

Sally’s comments came after fears that her role had been reduced this summer.

She again posted a disturbing video on social networks, where she expressed her desire for “happier times”.

The actress – who plays Rovers Return landlady Jenny Connor in the ITV soap – first appeared on the cobbles in 1986.

She stayed until 1991 before leaving and then returning briefly in 1993, before returning full-time in 2015.

Speaking to fans during a late-night Instagram live, Sally Ann revealed how she hasn’t filmed on the cobblestones in a while – and that fans shouldn’t expect to see her for a long time.

She then said: “I chose to sit on the plane because I am particularly quiet at work.

“I have about a million years off, so I decided to go on a plane and I decided to remember happier times.”

The star said she had been to Cyprus twice in the past five weeks and added that she planned to go again this Saturday.

She continued: “And then I will return to Cyprus, and nothing more.

“At some point I could get a job and somebody could hire me, potentially.”

Money troubles

The Sun recently revealed that Corrie stars will be offered shorter contracts amid falling viewing figures and the financial crisis.

Cast members fear cash-strapped producers may only be able to guarantee contracts until the end of 2025 – leaving some worried they won’t be able to pay their mortgages.
