In 2007, he made his screen debut as “Tito” in the American film “Freedom Writers”. He auditioned for the role of “Tito” in the film “Freedom Writers” not because he wanted the role, but by chance. He learned about the audition while playing basketball at a local recreational park; he was 16 years old at the time. After his brother convinced him to audition, he decided to try his luck. After a month of screening, he got the role.
He then starred in the films A Better Life (2011) and Teacher of the Year (2014). He played the lead role of Daniel “Danny” Alvarez in Lowriders (2016).
He has also acted in the films: War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) and Hunter x Hunter (2018). He has also acted in short films, his first being Fallen Comrade (2012), in which he played the role of Private Sedano. Other shorts he has acted in include: Combat (2012), Irene (2012), Sins of the Father (2014) and Los (2015).

- Gabriel initially wanted to be a soccer player. At the age of 13, Gabriel was selected for the Olympic Development Program and was invited to compete in the United States, Spain and the United Kingdom.
- Even after working in the entertainment industry, he remained actively involved with the West Coast Elite Soccer Club, which he co-founded with one of his brothers. The club developed players and teams that traveled to various tournaments throughout the United States and Europe.
