Before the show premieres, screen roar Exclusive chat with star Gabriella Catto resortexplore the layers of her character, build familial relationships with her castmates, and more.

Screen Rant: resort This really blew my mind, and from what I’ve seen so far, it’s pretty shocking. Does it really appeal to you to want to be a part of the project?

Gabriella Cator: Everything about it, the story, the cast, the crew, the creative part, the fact that I was traveling to Puerto Rico, the fact that it was my first American show. For me, as an actor, that’s a challenge. I live in Mexico City, I’m from Mexico, so everything about it seemed like a show that I wanted to be a part of, and when I saw the first episode, I thought, “Yeah, this is awesome.” This was not Because I’m in it, but because it is, you know?

Yes, absolutely. The pilot project was a great start, and it only gets better from there. I loved the way your characters evolved as the plot progressed and the mystery unfolded. What was it like exploring all these layers for your character?

Gabriella Cator: It’s delicious. That’s the word. I’m lucky as an actor because I get to play two people at the same time. As an actor, you want to play every character, you want to be someone different, and with Luna, I had the opportunity to play Luna before and Luna 15 years later, and that was quite a journey, I like it.

Having said that, it’s clear that most productions tend to shoot out of sequence. Do you find it sometimes difficult to remember the timeline of your shoots?

Gabriela Cartol: Yes, of course, especially with makeup. We’re like, “Oh, is this 2007?” Same with the clothes. [Laughs] Sometimes we’ll have these discussions and I’m pretty sure we’re back in 2007 and they’ll be like, “No, this is 2000. No, wait, this is 2022.” That’s the hardest part.

What was it like to go back in time, even just for a short time?

Gabriela Cartol: I think it’s great because it makes me question myself. Who was I, Gabriella, 15 years ago? I am a completely different person, the way I talk is not what I am now, the way I am is not what I am now, the way I am is not what I am now, and the way I think is not what I am now. So I had the opportunity to do the same thing with Luna and think, “Who was she in 2007? What did she like? What did she wear? What type of music did she listen to? What would we ask her about her hobbies?” Now back to 2022? What are her priorities? What did she learn? What has she changed? “

Yes, absolutely. At a show like this it’s always great to see the band able to compete against each other. What was it like building a rapport with so many of the actors before filming?

Gabriela Cartol: Well, I had the opportunity to work with Louis for a while. As soon as we met, we started getting things done and started talking about the relationship and what we had in mind. I said to Andy, along with the other actors, what a great eyesore, because we didn’t know each other. We got there and as soon as we were picked up, “3, 4, 5, let’s go”, it was like we were a family. Over time it really became a family, so chemistry is a key part in an ensemble cast like this.

What was it like for you to work with Ben, who was both in front of and behind the camera on this film?

Gabriella Cato: It’s crazy. I just thought of that word to describe this show, to describe working with Ben. He’s great, he knows what he wants and he’s very creative and I think he’s funny and I love that. I feel like I’m always playing.
