- He considers himself an Ambedkarite.
- In 2017, he announced that he would no longer appear in movies. In an interview, when talking about the reasons for quitting, he said:
I turn 48 this month and I made a resolution on my birthday to stop singing in movies by the end of this year. I was lucky enough to get the attention of a composer. That gave me my big break and I’ve never looked back since. But now, it’s time to give the opportunity to someone else who deserves it. If I don’t sing 100 songs, that means the opportunity is given to 100 other people, right? I write most of my songs. But I don’t do that anymore because a lot of people want me to write songs in gibberish just because it’s catchy, but it doesn’t make sense to me. That’s why I gave it some time. I will finish all the recordings within this year. I will also continue to sing for charities and welfare causes. ”
