Gurmukh Singh Sandhu, better known as Garry Sandhu, is a Punjabi singer, songwriter, composer and actor. He came into limelight after singing the Punjabi song “Mai Nhi Peenda Han Diye Tera Ishq Peonda Ni”.

He received his education at Rulka Kalam Government School. Gary’s academic performance was not very good and he often skipped school. He failed his tenth standard and returned to school. Sandhu is good at sports and played football in his childhood. At the age of thirteen, he learned Kavishri from Gurdeep Singh and used to sing religious songs at the Gurudwara Sahib with his friend Jaggi Sandhu. When Garry was 17 he moved to England where he worked in a number of labour-oriented jobs. He then worked as a salesman. Gary started writing songs while he was in England. It took him 8 years to release his first song.

Garry Sandhu started his singing career in 2010 with a popular Punjabi song “Mai Nhi Peenda Han Diye Tera Ishq Peonda Ni”. He went on to deliver hit songs one after another, including ‘Dil De De’, ‘Fresh’, ‘Sahan To Pyariya’ and ‘Tohar’. In 2011, he won the “Best Actor” award at the British Asian Music Awards. His first music album included seven songs written by Gary himself. In 2013, he sang the religious song “Ik Tera Sahara” after being deported to India. As a singer, Sandhu has released many popular Punjabi songs like “Ego”, “Excuses”, “Banda Ban Ja”, “Laddo”, “Illegal Weapon”, “Yeah Baby” and “Love You Jatta”.
Gary made his acting debut in 2014 with the Punjabi film Romeo Ranjha. He owns a record label called Fresh Media Records and releases songs with other artists. He also owns ‘Fresh’ clothing line, which has stores in Jalandhar, Amritsar and Batala.
