Rock star Gavin Rossdale mourns the death of his dog Chewy.
On Saturday, the Bush singer and guitarist took to Instagram to share a video showing some of his favorite moments with his beloved pet to the tune of his band’s “Nowhere to Go but Everywhere.” Among the photos are snaps of Chewy joining him in a Target race, with members of the Bush family, and photos of the Pomeranian with Rossdale’s sons — Kingston, 17, Zuma, 15, and Apollo, 9 — who he shares with his ex-wife, Gwen Stefani — as well as daughter Daisy Lowe, 34, with Pearl Lowe.
Along with the video, Rossdale shared a touching tribute, revealing that Chewy had died unexpectedly “a few days ago,” on January 6. He was 11 years old.
“This is the last post I ever wanted to write,” Rossdale began. “Unfortunately… We buried Chewy today. We lost him suddenly a few days ago. It’s been a tough few days. Me and the family are pretty devastated.”
He added that all of Chewy’s favorite spots are “empty” and that “the house feels different now” because his beloved pooch is gone. “There is no life under it.” he wrote.

Rossdale also said Chewy was the first small dog he had been around and he didn’t think he would form such a strong bond at first.
“I’ve never been around small dogs before and at first I didn’t expect to bond with such a supermodel, but after a short time I was smitten,” his post continued. “And he was my absolute little furry best friend.”
Rossdale concluded, “I can’t stop thinking about him even if I look like I’m doing something else. He’s been there through all my hardest and loneliest times. He’s been magic. Love your pets. Love your people. Love yourself better.”
The “Glycerine” singer also hinted that Chewy has been a part of his family for almost 12 years, writing, “Chewy McGregor Rossdale 15 Aug 2012 – 6 Jan 2024.”

Chewy has long been a fixture on Rossdale’s social media. In 2023, he informed his fans after Chewy was “severely injured” and later had to learn to walk again after a procedure gone wrong.
“A little update for Chewy – he’s a soldier and going through his own war. He’s learning to walk again after a procedure that went horribly wrong,” he wrote at the time. “Then he got meningitis, which means he had to learn to walk again between the two disasters. He stayed home after the tour to get better. Slowly, slowly.”
