In 2013, like her family members, Gayatri also joined the family business but she kept a low profile in the family business. Reddy serves as Features Editor of Deccan Chronicle and Asian Age. dispute

  • In September 2012, Gayatri’s IPL reputation took a back seat when her Hyderabad Deccan Chargers were dropped from the IPL after playing five seasons. The 2009 IPL champion was terminated by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) for breach of contract as the franchise owner failed to provide a bank guarantee of Rs 100 crore by the deadline. Further, when the BCCI tried to auction the franchise, the Reddys rejected the only bid of Rs 1,000 crore from PVP Ventures for Rs 900 crore. After the BCCI terminated the bid and asked for 30 days to rectify it, the team owners took it to court, but in vain. In July 2020; however, an arbitration tribunal appointed by the Bombay High Court ruled that the BCCI had wrongfully terminated the Deccan Chargers’ contract and further ordered the BCCI to pay compensation of Rs. 4814.67 crore to Deccan Chronicle Holdings Ltd besides 10% interest for 2012.

  • On February 14, 2015, Gayatri’s father’s wayward lifestyle led to him and Gayatri’s uncle being detained by the CBI in connection with the Canara Bank money laundering case. The two Reddys were accused of availing different short-term corporate loans amounting to Rs. Between 2008 and 2012, Rs 1,230 crore was lost by filing false financial statements. A report said that during the bureau’s seizure of Reddy’s property, Gayatri and her mother’s jewellery, luxury wardrobe and apartment were also auctioned.
  • In October 2020, as the same fraud case against DHCL progressed, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) revealed that the total amount of fraud allegedly committed by the two Reddy’s was estimated at Rs. 81.8 billion rupees. The agency then temporarily attached the Reddy family’s real estate and impounded the Reddy family’s high-end vehicles. Reports also suggest that some close relatives of the Reddys may also be involved in the case.
