General Election LIVE: 7-way debate erupts over immigration, taxes & the NHS – as Mordaunt & Rayner lock horns again

It’s time to ask about housing

Janice asks why, after a 32-year career in the housing sector, she still works with families struggling to put food on the table.

Farage says: “Because people are getting poorer, very, very simply.

“I mentioned a moment ago that GDP per capita has fallen in love for the last six consecutive quarters.

“It is now unaffordable for our children and grandchildren to buy a house, rents have gone up 20 percent – in some parts 30 percent – in the last three years alone.

“And I’m sorry, but we’re back to the population explosion. That’s the huge impact it has on people’s lives.”

ap Iowerth tells Plaid that Britain is one of the richest nations in the world “but also one of the most unequal”.

Yes or no – would you rejoin the EU or the single market

Pretty simple question from Ken… would you rejoin the EU or single market?

Rayner: “No.”

Cooper: “At some point in the future, I very much hope so.”

Penny: “No, and if you have a Labor government, they will tie you down to defence, migration, regulation, without the benefits of membership.”

Denyer: “Yes, when the time is right.”

Farage: “No – we are free. We may be managed incompetently, but at least those are our mistakes, not someone else’s.”

Flynn: “Yes, absolutely.”

ap Iowerth: “I have no doubt that Wales is best off in the European Union. But for now, let’s go back to the Customs Union and the Single Market to help our economy.”

Borders become a problem

Angela Rayner points out that Labor will set up a Border Security Command, while Penny Mordaunt trumpets Rishi Sunak’s plan for Rwanda.

Migrants arrived across the English Channel this year at the fastest rate in the last four years.

Brexit means Brexit

Stephen Flynn blasts UK is poorer because of Nigel Farage’s Brexit “pet project”.

He adds that the Labor manifesto simply accepted Brexit as fact.

But Angela retorted: “First of all, we respect the result of the referendum.

I know the SNP never does that.
