General Hospital issues warning following wildfires across Southern California.
On Wednesday, January 8, the long-running soap series shared a statement on Instagram about several upcoming episodes that will feature fires as the deadly fires in the Los Angeles area continue.
“Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the wildfires currently raging in Los Angeles County,” the statement began. “In light of current events, today’s episode General Hospital (and several that follow) may prove too difficult for some to watch.”
“Please consider this before switching on,” the series added before concluding, “Thank you for your understanding.”
LA fires live: Death toll rises to 5 as fires continue to burn across city
Five people have died in the Eaton fire since Jan. 8, LA County Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone announced, according to CBS News and NBC News. According to CalFire, five separate wildfires are burning in the Los Angeles area, and more than 30,000 residents have been evacuated from Pacific Palisades and neighboring areas by the afternoon of January 7.
In addition to school closures and evacuation orders, Hollywood has also halted production until the wildfires are under control.
Earlier today, PEOPLE confirmed that the sets of ABC shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Doctor Odysseus and Jimmy Kimmel Live! it will be dark.

CBS Studios also wrapped its Los Angeles productions early as a precaution. These titles include NCISwhich is filmed in Santa Clarita, a prequel series NCIS: Originswhich was picked up on the Paramount network and late night show After midnight. Their other LA shows likeNeighborhood and The Pope’s house they were not intended for recording and will work remotely.
