Geri Halliwell-Horner Talks ‘Love’ and ‘Affection’ for Her Fellow Spice Girls: ‘They’re My Sisters’ (Exclusive)

Geri Halliwell-Horner has nothing but love for her fellow Spice Girls.

Speaking to PEOPLE in 10’s Makho Ndlovu about her recently published fictional novel, the former Spice Girl revealed what girl power means to her and opened up about her relationship with her “sisters.”

“Girl power to me really means equality for everyone,” said Halliwell, 51 – once known as Ginger Spice. “It’s not just for women, it’s for everyone. Whatever gender you are, whatever culture you belong to — true love is equal and it’s abundant.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Halliwell-Horner opened up about how the girl group – which also includes Victoria Beckham, Melanie “Mel B” Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie “Mel C” Chisholm – have remained close after all these years.

“If you went to school or college with someone, it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been apart. Or your lives have gone in completely different directions,” she said.

He added: “You find things in common like motherhood – but ultimately there’s always that attachment. I feel love and protection for them. They’re my sisters so it’s always nice to see them. I love being around them.”

Halliwell-Horner — who is mother to daughter Bluebell, 17, son Monty, 6, and stepmother to husband Christian Horner’s 9-year-old daughter Olivia — also gave each of her children their own Spice Girl name.

“Monty, he loves LEGO and he made a Titanic LEGO that’s for an 18-year-old. He’s absolutely obsessed with Céline Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On,'” she said of her son. “He’s really very precise and dedicated. I call him Precise Spice.”

She added of her daughter and stepdaughter: Olivia is “sweet and loves animals so I would say Caring Spice. Bluebell, she’s very dedicated and hardworking.”

After taking a long pause to think about it, Ndlovu suggested “Boss Spice” – and she agreed wholeheartedly.

Although the Spice Girls officially disbanded in 2001, they released several new and expanded versions of their cult hit Spiceworld album — which features hit singles “Spice Up Your Life,” “Too Much” and “Stop” — in celebration of the 25th anniversary of last year’s chart-topping album.

“The Spiceworld era was such a fun time for us,” the English girl group said in a press statement at the time. we had our own movie! Who would have thought that? It’s crazy to think it’s been 25 years.”

The band also embarked on a 13-date UK tour in 2019. Chisholm previously told PEOPLE that another tour “has to happen” and that she’s even hoping to get Beckham this time.

“It’s just the four of us right now. We’re working on Victoria. She might be drawn into the idea at one point,” Chisholm told PEOPLE (TV show!) in October 2021.
