Get A First Look at the Ghoulish New 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' Immersive Experience, Opening this Week

The City of Angels is getting a devilish new pop-up experience!

In celebration of the long-awaited bug juice sequel, Warner Bros Discovery and Fever open a Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice-themed immersive experience in Los Angeles on Friday, August 23 — and shared a sneak peek of the event exclusively with PEOPLE.

The experience, called “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: The Afterlife Experience,” will take place at the Ovation Hollywood mall in an 11,000-square-foot space that will transport fans into the movie’s universe. Inside, attendees will have access to state-of-the-art recreation and plenty of photo opportunities, as well as live entertainment.

Visitors can perform the typical three-beat knock to enter the Underworld and meet Beetlejuice himself. The experience also includes interactions with other spirits and creatures of the night, including a spooky sand worm.

If guests get hungry, they are welcome to take a seat in the Afterlife Diner and purchase themed food and drinks. And, of course, the experience wouldn’t be complete without the merchandise and collectibles that will be available for purchase in the Afterlife gift shop.

The sequel to Tim Burton’s 1988 cult classic will hit theaters and IMAX on September 6th. Several stars from the original, including Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder, will reprise their roles as Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz, while Jenna Ortega and Justin Theroux join the cast as new faces.

The film follows three generations of the Deetz family as they return home after a family tragedy. “Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid (Ortega), discovers a mysterious model city in the attic and accidentally opens a portal to the afterlife,” reads the synopsis. “With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time before someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his own kind of mayhem.”
