Gina Rodriguez Says Justin Baldoni Is 'My Brother Forever' Nearly 10 Years after Jane the Virgin’s Premiere (Exclusive)

Jane Villanueva and Rafael Solano aren’t just endgame on screen — they’re like family in real life.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary Jane the Virgin is approaching (the CW series premiered on October 13, 2014), Gina Rodriguez tells PEOPLE she’s as close as ever with her fictional dad ex.

“Justin is a sweet, sweet soul. Man, he’s a cutie pie,” she enthuses about Justin Baldoni, who played Rafael to her Jane. “That guy is—that’s my brother forever. Forever and ever.”

Rodriguez, 40, says Baldoni, 40, is “the person I’m most in touch with, for sure” among the cast Janealthough they are all in contact quite often.

“I’m talking to Yael [Groblas] and Brett [Dier] a lot, too.” she adds, referring to the actress Petra who played her nemesis-turned-confidant, and the actor who played her character’s first love, Michael. “But Justin is just my brother.”

The actress, who is now co-hosting a brand new game show, ABC’s Good luck on the 13thwith Shaquille O’Neal, says he feels “old” when he remembers the film’s premiere Jane the Virgin.

“I feel old. That’s the first thing that comes to my mind. The second thing that comes to my mind is: I want to organize a reunion,” he admits. “I freaking loved that experience, and those people, and that show was so cool. That show was so different. That show was so unique.”

“Every moment was perfect,” she continues about the show for which she won a Golden Globe in 2015. “Even in trouble, even in difficulties, even when we worked 16 hours a day, even when it was just bleeding, I was left without energy and life, and I would miss birthday parties and Christmas and vacations with my family, and I would miss everything.. . I just made sure I appreciated why I was missing out on all that stuff, and I did.”

Last month, Rodriguez and Baldoni marked the five-year anniversary of the series finale in 2019. Baldoni wrote on Instagram that he “can’t believe it’s been five years,” and Rodriguez then shared his post on her Stories, writing, “I miss this life. ”

“I’m still blown away by all the love and support we continue to receive,” Baldoni continued in the caption. “It always makes me happy to hear how much this show has meant to so many. Thank you to everyone who has made this show a part of their lives. And to my TV family who will always be my family… I love you all.”

In the comments section, Dier wrote “I love you Justin” in all caps alongside a series of rose emojis, while Jaime Camil, who played Jane’s father Rogelio, commented “❤️❤️.”
