Giovanni Pernice ‘sent Strictly celeb partner “offensive” video’ before a live Saturday night show, BBC probe told

A BBC investigation into Giovanni Pernice said he sent an offensive video clip to a famous dance partner.

The broadcaster’s team were presented with the new allegation last week as they investigate the Strictly professional’s workplace behaviour.

Giovanni, 33, allegedly sent the clip via WhatsApp before taping one of the live shows on Saturday night.

He did not make, order or appear in the video.

The BBC launched an internal investigation after receiving complaints from his former dance partners, including TV presenter Laura Whitmore and actress Amanda Abbington, who are being represented by lawyers.

A source said: “The BBC has been told about the video clip and that someone found the content completely inappropriate, grossly offensive.

“The BBC was told the celebrity was shocked and upset when she received it in a WhatsApp message, hours before the couple were due to dance together on live television.

“They were told that they were intimidated by it. Women are incredibly brave in coming forward, especially as many of them are standing up to the mean messages from his loyal fans.”

Giovanni, who is represented by London law firm Schillings, declined to comment, as did the BBC.

The dancer recently returned to London after a holiday with girlfriend Molly Brown.

We can also reveal that the BBC uses trauma and abuse experts to interview women.

Yesterday, The Sun revealed that at least two of Gio’s dance partners accused him of “brutal” training methods that left them “black and blue”.

Giovanni, who is represented by London law firm Schillings, and the BBC declined to comment last night.

They claim to have photographic evidence of their injuries, which allegedly go beyond the “occupational hazards” of dancing, cited by Gio’s friends.

‘Toxic training’

Last weekend, the Sun on Sunday revealed that Sherlock actress Amanda had told friends that she had a bruised foot after being stepped on during a training session with Giovanni.

His coaching style was said to be “toxic”, leaving her “sad and despondent”.

He strongly rejected the accusations.
