Lisa Entikin, the RRVBC Executive Director, tells people that the lack of blood in the Rockford area is the most critical she has seen in the last two years. Blood bank has struggled to reach potential donors because the media consumption has changed, and traditional IE ads are less effective, she explains.
“First [Bleed for Weed] The event we had, our first donor rate was over 50 percent, so it’s wonderful for us to get new donors, “says Entikin.
And, he says, while donors cannot be influenced while donating, simply use of cannabis does not disqualify a person to donate blood.
For some, the message behind the events is enough to make them go out and donate. Hodges remembers some people who give blood, but after that they reject vouchers – many have just gladly helped.
