Gloria Talbot’s Career
The excellent Gloria Talbott, born on February 7 in Glendale, California, began acting since she was a child. She later received the title “Miss Glendale” and can be seen in cameo appearances in Sweet and Low-Down (1944) and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945).
Talbott married in 1949 after graduating from high school, had a son, and returned to acting when their marriage dissolved in 1953. Talbott began her acting career on the stage before advancing in three Allied Artists westerns: Border City Rustlers (1953), Northern Patrol (1953), and Desert Quest (1952), starring Virginia Gray and Kirby Grant.
During his career, Talbott starred in many westerns, most notably The Oklahoman (1957), Cattle Empire (1958), and Jesse James’ comedy western Alias (1959), starring Bob Hope, Rhonda Fleming, and Wendell Corey.
In 1956, Sandy Sanders, a character actor and stuntman, married Gloria Talbott. Sanders was known in the Western community as a horse and rope trainer, owner of a riding school, and even as a riding instructor in his spare time. Talbott gained a lot of knowledge about horses from Sanders and became a skilled horseman. But in 1965, the couple went through a painful divorce.
Cyclops (1957; with James Craig), Dr. Jekyll’s Daughter (1957; with John Agar), I Married a Space Monster (1958; with Tom Tryon), and The Leech Woman (1960; with Coleen Gray and Grant Williams) are just a few of the cult classic 1950s horror films in which Talbott played the scream queen.
In the 1950s and 1960s, he made numerous television appearances; he has played guest roles on several well-known television series, including Perry Mason and The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp.
