Goldie Hawn, Adam Carolla and More Stars Pay Tribute to Suzanne Somers After Her Death: ‘A True Icon’

Friends and fans of Suzanne Somers are paying tribute following the news that the actress died on Sunday morning at the age of 76. Her longtime publicist, R. Couri Hay, confirmed her death to PEOPLE. “Suzanne Somers passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of October 15th. She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years,” Hay wrote in a statement shared on behalf of the actress’ family.

Somers spent her last moments at home, surrounded by her husband Alan Hamel, son Bruce Somers Jr. and other members of her immediate family.

“Sad, so sad,” commented Goldie Hawn on Instagram.

Adam Carolla said he was “devastated” to hear of Somers’ death, calling her “a true icon and an overall amazing human being” in a post on Twitter (now X). “I’ll miss you dearly, my friend,” he added.

Megyn Kelly, who once met the actress, chirped that Somers “radiated goodness, beauty and love”.

Sandra Lee lamented the loss of Somers on Instagram. In addition to remembering Somers as “kind and generous and fun and funny,” she shared that “just a few weeks ago [she] he gave me advice about doctors and longevity.”

The actress was also remembered and celebrated for her resilience during her long journey with breast cancer.

“How sad to hear that actress and uber businesswoman Suzanne Somers has passed away,” ABC News Correspondent Deborah Roberts chirped. “She would have turned 77 tomorrow. She battled breast cancer for over 2 decades. She will never forget her ‘Chrissy’ on the hit series Three’s Company.”

In addition to her roles as Chrissy Snow on Three’s Company (1977-1981) and Carol Foster Lambert on Step by step (1991-1998), Somers played Sheriff Hildy Granger in She’s the sheriff (1987-1989).

The actress was also known for numerous books — she published more than 25 of them and was The New York Times best-selling author — and for her health and beauty business ventures, most notably ThighMaster exercise equipment.

Somers leaves behind her “blended family” – Hamel, Bruce, 57, her stepsons Stephen and Leslie and six grandchildren.
