Govardhan Rao Deverakonda is an Indian television serial director who mainly directs South Indian serials. He is the father of South Indian actor Vijay Deverakonda.

When Govardhan was a teenager, he moved to Hyderabad from his hometown to pursue an acting career, but while taking acting courses, he realized that he was camera-sensitive. He then decided to work behind the scenes as a director. At that time, India was setting up satellite channels. Govardhan was then approached by a production company, but he didn’t want to work under his boss. Later, he invited people from the village to invest in his business. Several production companies asked Dad to direct. He comes from a “Dora” mentality of not wanting to work for someone else. So he looked for real estate people in the village to invest. They do it just to see their name on TV. But when payments were delayed, they backed out. Then Dad shot commercials for the government and that kept us going. Dad is my staunch supporter. He was very happy for me today. “
