She recalled singing and dancing with Swift “like theater kids” to “But Daddy I Love Him” ​​and “lying on the floor in disbelief” after listening to “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.”

Abrams said they started listening to instrumentals created by Aaron Dessner, musician of The National, and immediately started working on their song.

“Something caught our ear at the same time very quickly. So we ran to the piano and started writing this song… I fantasized about such things as a kid,” she told the newspaper.

Dessner said Board that he enjoyed working on the track because of the chemistry between Abrams and Swift.

“It was really fun to watch Gracie and Taylor’s chemistry bounce off each other, Gracie in complete wonder and awe watching Taylor record and produce her vocal performances and build the world,” he said.

While speaking with PEOPLE’s Janine Rubenstein at the 2024 Grammy Awards, Abrams said that being on Swift’s tour “changed the course of my life in so many ways.”
