Grantchester’s Robson Green delights fans with major news on project away from show

Grantchester star Robson Green has shared some big news about his latest project away from the popular detective series.

Taking to Instagram, the actor revealed that he is putting the “finishing touches” on the second series of his BBC travel show, Robson Green’s weekend getawaywhich will arrive on our screens in early 2024.

Sharing a photo of the star holding a script in a filming booth, he captioned it: “Between suspending disbelief as a detective in the quintessentially English village of Grantchester in the 1960s, I’m completing a new series of ‘Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes’ for the BBC British Village Famous is for its breathtaking landscapes, rich biological diversity and cultural heritage.

“Immersion in this environment allows us to develop a deeper understanding of the beauty and wonder of the natural world,” he continued. “Whether it’s walking along scenic trails, exploring historic sites, or watching wildlife, the landscape provides an opportunity to admire the beauty of our environment and cultivate a sense of awe and gratitude, and it’s also a damn beautiful thing.

“It will be released in early 2024, and the new series is beautiful!” added Robson.

The travel series, which first aired on BBC Two in January, sees the 58-year-old take the road less traveled in North East England. The synopsis continues: “With famous friends, he finds prosperity and adventure in beautiful places.”

In the first series, Robson visited places such as County Durham, Teesdale and Northumberland. The star was joined by a number of famous faces, including his own Grantchester co-star Tom Brittney, who announced his departure from the crime drama in July.

“I’ve had an amazing time playing Will Davenport over the past five years,” Tom said in a statement. “I get to solve crimes with my best friend and work with the best cast and crew I could ever wish for. I’ll miss that more than anything. But it’s time to pass the baton on, as it once was to me, and I’m very excited to Rishi to join the Grantchester family.”
