Grown & Gospel premieres this Thursday, March 16 at 9 p.m. ET on We TV. The six-episode series will air on Thursday and will be available to watch on AMC’s streaming service, ALLBLK, on Monday. Six “vocational childhood friends” will feature in the series as they seek their own success in the Detroit church scene, away from the influence of their famous parents. The new series will also feature many fights between the team members, as well as some heartbreaking moments.
Grown & Gospel will follow six contestants as they try to make a name for themselves in the music business.
Grown & Gospel follows six best friends who grew up in the Gospel music community and learned this from their famous parents. Breeann “Bree” Hammond, J. Brooks, Tasha Page-Lockhart, Elijah Connor, Shana Wilson-Williams and Nikkia Cole-Beach star in the series.
The Grown & Gospel’s teaser caused a lot of drama when one of the singers admitted to having an affair. The artist passed out on stage while performing at another venue. Meanwhile, one of the band members in the background announced that he will forge his own professional path as the next generation, facing pain.

Meet the members of the Grown & Gospel group.
1) Breeann “Bree” Hammond
Breeann Hammond is the daughter of gospel legend Fred Hammond. She left the Christian business for a while and came back with a now or never mindset. He plans to reunite with his friends and become more involved in the music community.
2) John Brooks
J. Brooks is the son of the co-founder of the “Commissioned” worship group, Pastor Michael Brooks. He got his first church job at the age of 14 and has been a singer-songwriter ever since. He believes that “music makes a genre, not the other way around”. Brooks was Bree’s first contact when she returned to Detroit and he was able to help reunite her with the group.
3) Tasha-Lockhart Page
Tasha Page Brooks is the daughter of Lisa Page Brooks, founder of the modern gospel group “Witness”. Lockhart is a champion of BET’s Sunday Best and wants to advance his career. He has two children and is now divorced. She may also be faced with a disturbing truth from her past that will affect her life.
4) Isaac Connor
R&B artist Elijah Connor is the son of a religious priest, not a singer. He is charting his own path in the music industry, living by the motto “Apologize, not approve.” His parents were upset because he never finished school and chose a path other than religion.
5) Nikkia Cole . Beach
Nikkia Clark Cole is the daughter of The Clark Sisters singer Dorinda Clark Cole. She was an unruly child, currently managing a busy life with her children, working as a tour manager for the Clark Sisters and managing the family on her own since her husband is in prison. She wanted to “avoid the wrath of history.”
6) Shana Wilson-Williams
Shana is a mother of two and the daughter of a praise leader who has been active in the church for over 30 years. Despite being a choir director, she feels like an intruder in the Christian music business and will have to work harder without any “cloak”. Maturity & Gospel, a six-episode series, airs every Thursday at 9 p.m. ET.
