Gwen Stefani Shares Unseen Photo from Her First Halloween with Blake Shelton in 2015: 'Knew I Had to Kiss You'

Gwen Stefani is taking a trip down memory lane this Halloween!

On Wednesday, Oct. 30, the “Sweet Escape” singer, 55, shared a photo of her first spooky vacation with husband Blake Shelton.

The sexiest, scariest and silliest celebrity costumes for Halloween 2024.

The 2015 photo was part of an Instagram carousel that started with the couple hanging out together on Halloween.

Stefani wore a denim mini dress and a cowboy hat, adding fake blood to her face and chest area. Meanwhile, Shelton, 48, stood smiling next to her in a striped shirt and a Wienerschnitzel baseball cap.

Many unsuccessfully tried to guess his costume in her comment section.

“I met you in October, I had nothing to lose / I dressed up like a country girl I knew you’d approve / I knew I had to kiss you on the Halloween moon,” Stefani captioned the post.

The caption also served as the lyrics to the song she sang on the final slide, played over a video of clouds rolling past the moon.

Other images in the stream included a close-up photo of Stefani’s costume in its packaging, a selfie of her with Shelton that night, and a field of flowers.

That evening, the two attended Jared Leto’s private house party, where they were joined by other celebrities like Jessica Alba and Nicky Hilton, along with Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher, a source told PEOPLE at the time.

Stefani and Shelton first met during filming Vote in April 2014

However, she was married to Gavin Rossdale at the time, and the “Hillbilly Bone” singer was married to fellow country star Miranda Lambert.

“Blake and Gwen are going through similar situations,” a Shelton insider told PEOPLE of their Halloween get-together, adding at the time that the duo was “flirting.”

“They spent time together and had each other’s support,” the source said.

During the October 2 episode Show Jennifer Hudsonthe pop star shared what made her fall in love with Shelton.

“The thing about Blake is you never go a day without laughing,” Stefani said. “You know what I mean? Which is simple—it doesn’t even matter what happens. The guy has so much patience and so much kindness in his heart.”
