A Louisiana gym owner shares a great lesson about helping out!
Catherine Takawira, who owns Ignited Force Gym in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was tending to a member’s baby during a step aerobics class and took the moment to impart a nugget of community wisdom.
Last month, Takawira took to Instagram to share a video of herself taking part in an aerobics class while holding her toddler – who was calmly hopping along with her – garnering more than 117,000 likes.
In the caption, she called the moment “a nod to the incredible strength of mothers who strive to find time to care for themselves guilt-free,” and shared a little more context.

“This week I had the privilege of babysitting a member’s toddler during our @ignitedforce step class,” the owner wrote. “A great reminder to always be kind. You never know what impact you can have by choosing to be kind and reach out.”
Takawira continued, “There are so many lessons I’ve learned about community and customer service over the past few months. Sure, everyone dreams of the monetary benefits you can get from starting a business, BUT I’ve found that there are greater rewards when you focus on truly serving your community from genuine concerns.”
“A love of service will get you through on days when work isn’t so good, whether you show up for 1 person or 50, you show up because you care,” she concluded.

In the comments section of the video, the gym owner was met with praise for both the sweet gesture and her overall message of community.
“An example of ‘Empowered women empowering women,'” one person wrote, while another commented, “Because ‘it takes a village’ is real!!”
Another commenter joked about the baby falling asleep during the high-energy class, writing, “Baby’s gonna sleep like he’s working out,” to which Takawira responded with a smiling emoticon.
