Gypsy-Rose Blanchard Welcomes First Baby, Daughter Aurora, with Boyfriend Ken Urker

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard is officially a mom.

The reality TV star, 33 — whose experience as a Munchausen victim by proxy made national headlines — and her boyfriend Ken Urker welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Aurora Raina Urker.

Urker shared a video of the new mom cradling their baby on Wednesday, Jan. 1, with the caption, “Welcoming 2025 with the greatest gift of all 👼.”

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard Shares Details From Her Baby Shower — Including Daughter’s Name: ‘I Felt Supported’ (Exclusive)

While speaking with PEOPLE in December, Blanchard said she can’t take credit for her baby girl’s name.

“Ken came up with it,” she said of Urker’s idea to name their daughter Aurora Raina. – There is a whole background to it.

“Some people think it’s because of a Disney princess,” Blanchard said, referring to Sleeping Beauty. In her early 20s, Blanchard was made to believe she was a child and frequented Disney parks due to false claims her mother made to children’s charities.

“Some people think it’s because Kristy’s dog’s name is Aurora Grace,” Blanchard said of her stepmother. – It’s not because of that. The name, she explained, was inspired by something else.

“Whenever Ken and I were together seven years ago, we were both fascinated by the aurora borealis, and the real term is the Aurora Borealis,” she recounted when she and Urker first went out during her time in prison. (Blanchard spent eight years in prison for her role in the 2015 murder of her mother, Dee Dee, who subjected her daughter to years of painful medical procedures she never needed.)

“I think it was maybe 2018, we wrote each other’s future child’s name on scraps of paper and Aurora is what we both chose without even knowing each other was choosing it,” Blanchard recalled.

She said they kept that name and that memory even after she and Urker divorced and she married Ryan Anderson. “When we broke up [it was like] ‘Oh, Aurora will never be born.’ A lot of people think origins are one thing, but they don’t know that little story.”

Now back together with Urker and officially divorced from Anderson, Blanchard is happy to nest and make meaningful plans for her growing family. “One day we’ll see,” she said of the natural light that inspired their choice of name for the child. “After I get out of parole, we’re going to go. We’re going to Sweden.”

“For this coming year, I’m really excited to kind of obviously bring her into the world and spend a lot of family time together,” said Blanchard, author of the new memoir. My Time to Stand. “Obviously I’ll be celebrating getting out of parole, so Kristy and Dad will babysit while Ken and I go on a nice vacation somewhere.”

Blanchard and Urker first announced in July that they were expecting their first child together after rekindling their romance. Blanchard filed for divorce from estranged husband Ryan Anderson in April.

Blanchard took a prenatal paternity test and publicly confirmed on November 5 that Urker, not Anderson, is the father of her baby.
