Shaggy Bikers star Si King has made a poignant admission of his grief 10 months after the tragic death of best friend Dave Myers.
However, his emotional words were balanced as he opened up a brand new television gig, during an interview on ITV’s Good Morning Britain on Tuesday.

Si, 58, recalled his friendship with his fellow Geordie, with whom he hosted a series of cookery shows as well as authoring a number of cookery books.
He told hosts Susanna Reid, 54, and Richard Madeley, 68, about the strength of their enduring relationship long after Dave died from cancer.
TV favorite Dave – who was the other half of the duo The Hairy Bikers – tragically died in February aged 66.
He has been battling cancer since 2022, and has kept fans informed about his illness for years.
On GMB, Si opened up about their relationship and said, “Just because he passed, it doesn’t stop him from being my best mate.”
Host Richard then asked, “Are you still talking to him [Dave]?” to which Si replied, “Well, I almost called him the other day.
“I thought, I haven’t heard from him about youth, and then I thought ‘oh’…
“It’s just that reflex, it’s that point of reference, me and Dave were each other’s point of reference because of our mutual friendship.”
He added: “Dave’s energy remains with all of us who loved him.
– He was just funny.

Si then revealed that he had completed a new cookbook the pair had started together, which Dave had already written a quarter before his death.
Apart from the book, Susanna indicated that Si is going through a “difficult” time with the new TV role – but there was a funny mistake when Si made his big reveal.
Susanna said: “Actually, you have a new role on ITV daily.”
Si replied, “Yes, I’m looking forward to it and thanks for the invitation.

“Yes, I’m good morning and cooking …” before Susanna was forced to insert the correct name of the show, This Morning.
She explained: “You’re on this morning, we sometimes call it good morning!” prompting him to reply, “Did I call good morning?
“Well, that’s a good start, isn’t it—I can’t even do a program very well.”
Si then went on to say that he would be on the roster of This Morning’s permanent chefs, appearing once a month from January.
Back in October, Si poignantly said he wanted to leave television after Dave’s death.
It came after he joined thousands of motorcyclists in a celebration of Dave’s life this summer.
TRAGIC TRANSIENCE
Earlier this year, Si announced Dave’s death on social media.
His colleague announced the tragic news in a statement, which caused a series of emotional praises from famous friends and fans.
Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, Si said at the time: “Hi everyone, I’m afraid I have some sad news.
“Most of you will know that Dave has been battling cancer for the past few years.
“Last night, February 28, 2024, with Lili, Dave’s wife, his family, his close friend David and myself by his side, he passed away peacefully at home.
“Everyone who knew Dave is devastated by his passing. His beloved wife brought him such happiness as did her children, Iza and Sergio whom Dave loved as his own.
“Personally, I’m not sure I can put into words how I feel right now. My best friend is on a path that I can’t follow for now.
“I will miss every day the bond and friendship we shared for half a lifetime.
“I wish you God’s speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. I love you.”
