Halle Bailey and DDG Recreate Janet Jackson and Tupac Shakur’s ‘Poetic Justice’ Photo Shoot for Halloween

Halle Bailey and boyfriend DDG paid tribute to two hip-hop icons this Halloween.

The pair dressed up as Janet Jackson and Tupac Shakur’s characters Justice and Lucky in the 1993 romantic drama. Poetic justice. They even recreated a promotional photoshoot of the stars for the film.

“Poetic justice, put it in a song 🖤🎶✨,” Bailey, 23, captioned the photo shared on her Instagram feed on Sunday, adding the hashtag #halloween2023.

Halle Bailey and boyfriend DDG had a classy date at the Glamor Women of the Year Awards

Bailey and DDG dated for over a year. The couple became Instagram official in March 2022 when the founder of record label Zooted Music made a post on the R&B singer’s birthday.

Bailey recently spoke about how “love” was a “really big” source of inspiration for her upcoming debut solo album, which she will release before the end of the year.

“All musical inspiration really just comes from life experiences,” she said Cosmopolitan in last month’s cover. “The love was really big for me too, because it’s something I’m experiencing for the first time, and it’s like ‘wow’ in your brain. It’s just fireworks, a spark for creativity.”

“This was a really beautiful, transformative time for me. I have all this new material to write about,” Bailey said. “It’s like, ‘What the hell did I just experience and go through?’ A whirlwind of amazingness. You never know what you’re capable of until you go through it. I was very creatively inspired, and then I fell in love from there. And so I really just played with those themes in my music.”

“You know, you have experience with love for puppies, you think it’s love. But this is my first deep, deep, real love,” added the Chloe x Halle singer.

In May, Bailey opened up to PEOPLE about what life has been like since starting her romance with DDG. When asked if she would call him a real prince, she said: “Yes. I would say that.”

“I think the best thing about young love is that you can continue to find yourself through this journey of loving someone else,” the actress explained. “And you discover new parts of yourself and maybe things you hadn’t noticed before about your heart.”

Bailey continued, “I feel like things change when love gets more involved in your life. I definitely discovered more about myself as a woman. It’s a really cool thing to go through, but a transformative experience.”
