Planning for Halloween II the wedding is in full swing!
During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE on the pink carpet at 90s Con on Saturday, actress Kimberly J. Brown admitted that she’s planning a wedding with her current fiance and ex Halloweentown II: Calabar’s Revenge Costar Daniel Kountz is “doing great.”
Still, she admitted she didn’t expect the planning process to be as much of a journey as it turned out to be.
“I have to put in a lot more detail and creativity than I thought,” she explains. “Like, I spent too much time and money on Etsy. You fall down so many rabbit holes and just go on adventures.”

Some elements she has already designed for her big day include bar signs and cocktail napkins. “I had fun,” she says.

Brown says she felt some “pressure” at the beginning of the process to find the right wedding venue because all the details of the day – including the date – depend on where the event is held.
But after taking that “big first step,” she says, she was able to “breathe a little easier.”
Kimberly J. Brown is engaged to her former ‘Halloweentown’ co-star Daniel Kountz: ‘Love You Forever’
Kountz, 45, and Brown, 39, starred as lovers more than 20 years ago in the 2001 Disney Channel movie, in which she plays Marnie Piper, a young witch who is in love with Kountz’s character, Kal. After Melanie shows Kal her grandmother’s magical room, she learns that he is the son of the evil witch Calabar, who is on a mission to destroy the town of Halloween.
The couple have since said that there was nothing romantic between them off-screen while they were working together. However, they stayed in touch over the years and eventually struck up a romantic relationship. They announced their engagement on Instagram in June 2022.

A year later, in July 2023, Brown took PEOPLE with her wedding dress shopping.
Also during ’90s Con, Brown told PEOPLE that she and Kountz still weren’t seeing each other Halloween II together because she doesn’t like watching him act, even though she watched the movie.
When asked if the couple has any Halloween traditions they keep up since the film is so popular during the spooky holiday, Brown joked about their differing opinions on the polarizing holiday treat.
“As for me, I like candy. Daniel, not so much, but we’re still getting married,” she says.
