Hands-On: Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Series [Switch]

Hands-on: Final Fantasy Pixel Remake Collection [Switch]

Today, Square Enix released Final Fantasy Pixel remake series Compatible with Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.

We got a chance to see the latest builds of these well-reviewed Pixel Remasters ahead of launch to see what new features have been added.

Up Up, Down Down, Open Menu, Configure, Accelerate

While these console ports are largely unchanged, there are some new menu options that players can toggle. The richer feature of the two is the Boost menu. Depending on the game you’re playing, in addition to increasing (or decreasing) the XP multiplier, you can also enable or disable random encounters (you can also do this at any time by tapping right sidebar), Jill is earned when the game has It’s time for ability points.

These options make Pixel Remasters more in line with other series entries that have been re-released on consoles in recent years. You can call them cheats or enhancements, but in a world where we don’t always have time to mull over RPGs, I like to call them quality-of-life adjustments. Trying out these boost features early on in some games has made the crushing process so much more tolerable, quadruple in fact. The Gil multiplier is also a great upgrade, as it reduces the effort required to purchase new items and spells for your party. The boost menu is definitely a welcome addition and I hope it gets patched into the pre-releases of these games, for both PC and mobile.

Better font selection

Another change in this release and one that was mainly requested when Pixel Remasters was first released was the addition of a more consistent pixel font. close Text that mimics the original text. I say this because although the new font is still better than the original font used for these games, it still isn’t. Great whoever. It’s still pretty bright, and the way the tall characters touch the end of the character name box annoys me every time I look at it. However, Square Enix heard feedback about the really bad fonts used in the early releases and acted on it, adding what will undoubtedly be the font used by many games. This selection.
