In her most revealing interview yet, she admitted she hadn’t dated anyone in years, saying: “It’s been so long since our first date that I honestly can’t remember.”

The British star, who caused a stir with a surprise appearance on The Voice on Saturday night, last had a boyfriend in 2022 before splitting from Italian businessman Gianluca Cugnetto.

They were together for a decade and were rumored to be engaged.

Hannah, who joined The Voice as Tom Jones’ guest mentor, revealed her love life is now “dry”.

She said: “I’m so busy and a bit picky.

“I want a guy who picks me up and says, ‘I’ve got you, I don’t care if you’re wearing make-up or not, I’m happy to lie in bed with you and have Marmite on toast and a glass of milk’.”

“And just be a beautiful positive, charismatic soul.

“I’m 50 years old and I’m like, ‘Dude, if you’re not going to get ahead, back off and disappear.’ Fuck off until someone great comes along’.

“I’d rather hang out with my girlfriends and gay friends and be respected.”

Admitting that she has no idea why her romantic life has been so dry, she detailed two things that are likely to turn her off from a potential partner.

“What’s my deal? I’ll be very simple — a bad kiss. You know nothing else works, nothing else will.

“But also eye contact, eye contact is key.”

Hannah also ruled out the man with the “sweaty palm” but added: “Honestly, it was so long ago I can’t really remember.”

Although she has never been married, Hannah revealed that she was once engaged to an unnamed man, believed to be Gianluca, but abandoned her wedding plans after being disappointed by “slim” wedding dresses that didn’t suit her curvaceous figure.

She said: “I think that’s the reason I never got married because once I was engaged, I put on all these wedding dresses and I was like, ‘Oh, this is pedestrian’. I mean, it was so bland.

“If I was going to do that, I would be in a bikini on the beach — a white bikini on the beach.”

Hannah started dating Gianluca in 2012, after meeting him through a mutual friend. They have a daughter, Kitty, who was born in 2014 after fertility problems.

The couple was last seen together in April 2022 at the Olivier Awards in London. Hannah has never spoken about the breakup, but she said in 2023 that her “primary function is being a single mom.”

He got lost

Later that year, she was briefly linked to singer Alfie Boe, a longtime friend, after they were seen together on several occasions as she prepared to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool.

But a few months later the relationship “disintegrated”.

Hannah said she would be open to dating another celebrity and revealed that when it comes to celebrity crushes, she has warmed to actor Sam Rockwell.

Speaking to the Table For Two podcast, published last week, she said she would love to work with the Green Mile and Iron Man 2 star “if I could stop staring at him in a different way”.

When it comes to romance, Hannah believes that looks are not the main attraction.

Instead, she likes her men to be “charismatic, joyful, kind, sparkly and goofy.”

She says: “I’m actually quite a picky girl and I have very specific criteria for things.

“One of the main things with guys, just give it man, positivity — positivity and charisma and I’m your girl.

“But there are a lot of misogs (poor old jerks) out there. I don’t need it.”

She added: “I’m not too into the stereotypical cutie pie, whatever, sexy, whatever.”

I feel like if I didn’t have those two, I would die on the spot

Hannah Waddingham

As romance eludes in-demand star Hannah, who released a hit Christmas album last year, she is focusing on her “girl and music” ahead of a man.

She added: “I feel like I would have died on the spot if I didn’t have those two.”

She also has her film career keeping her busy.

This year, she appeared with Ryan Gosling in the Hollywood film The Fall Guy, and she also got a role in the eighth film Mission Impossible, alongside Tom Cruise, which should be released in 2025.

Hannah’s path to the top was not easy.

She previously spoke about how her 5ft 11in height has cost her numerous roles because producers would not cast her opposite shorter male stars.

One of her first breaks was in Benidorm, which she joined in the fifth series, playing Tonya Dyke.

But she revealed that fumbling around in a bikini led to her being persistently “groped”.

“I have never been groped in my life.

‘Nothing Like Rebecca’

“But in Benidorm I was groped three times in one week,” she says.

“To get to the set, I had to walk through the hotel dressed as Tonya in some non-existent bikini and high heels while guys stared at me. . . or rather groping me.

“I had to stop myself from doing what I would instinctively do – knock them down – because I was working.”

In 2016, she was cast as Septa Unella in the fifth season of Game of Thrones, and was then cast as AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton in Ted Lasso in 2020.

Hannah says Rebecca was a role she could identify with and get into more easily than any other role she’s played – but she still insists she’s nothing like her in real life.

Hannah said: “I can literally think like her and like me, like a coin. There were a lot of times when people said, ‘She’s you, Rebecca Welton is just like you’.

“I’m nothing like Rebecca. But I can get into it. It’s like a sliding door. Just who you could have been in a different life.

My primary function is being a single mother

Hannah Waddingham

“I love playing characters that are that little bit of who you could have been, if we had decided differently.”

Hannah’s role in Ted Lass proved so popular that she was nominated three times for Emmys, for best supporting actress in a comedy, and won once.

Now she has been cast in the upcoming Christmas animation Tiddler.

Working all over the world, she is often torn away from her home in South West London and her daughter Kitty, and has previously spoken of her “mummy guilt”.

Hannah told host Michelle Visage: “She said, ‘Mum, we were talking at school about who inspires us and I said Harry Styles. . . and you’. I said, ‘What, me?!’ I’m kidding. I mean, I was a little annoyed about the second charge.

“I said, ‘Girl, you made my day, week, month and year, because you know mommy struggles when she’s away from you.’

However, she said that Kitty will always be her priority.

“My primary function is being a single mother,” says Hannah.

“I keep telling her that we are a team and that I have to do this. I have to strike while the iron is hot.

“I’m not so conceited that I think I’ll always have this kind of focus.

“I always told her, ‘Mommy has to take this time while the light shines on me, because the light shines on you.'”
